What’s included in the price?
Meals
Breakfast and dinner meals and non-alcoholic beverages to accompany meals being provided as
part of the accommodation. Dinner meals will include two complimentary bottles of wine for the group. A basic lunch consisting of freshly made baguettes, fruit and a chilled water will be provided to each rider. Snack items and/or drinks (alcoholic or otherwise) along the way, or a meal purchased outside of the meals provided with the accommodation is the responsibility of each rider.
Accommodation
Accommodation at gite/hotel is typically on a twin-share basis. Dormitory rooms are only used in an emergency as a one-off situation where single/twin rooms are not available and at short notice. A single room supplement of AUD$650 can be made but as there are limited options for lodge and hotel accommodation in New Caledonia in the more remote areas of Grande Terre, the ability to provide a single room can depend on room availability at each location.
Ride Information
Including a detailed itinerary with contact information for all accommodations, hard and soft copy ride map, a GPS route, and supporting information and all forward bookings for accommodations and side tours. A detailed typical gear list will be emailed to help the packing process.
Experienced Ride Guide
An Australian and French-speaking cycle guide with over 25 years touring experience, 16 years cycle touring experience in New Caledonia and current First Aid qualifications. The guide will also carry a mobile phone and emergency beacon. See more at Who We Are.
Support Van
Equipped with bike trailer, first aid kit, drinking water, and basic bike tools will be available throughout the tour and will follow the riders, except for Day 5 on the MTB tour and Day 7 on the road tour when the group is riding a section of trail that does not have public vehicle access.
Luggage carried
The support van will carry one item of baggage (max 23kg) for each person from one accommodation location to the next. It will be the responsibility of each rider to ensure that they have placed their baggage into the van prior to departing on each day’s ride.
Transits
Transits between Tontouta airport and the start of the ride. Transit to, or pick up from, Noumea for return to Tontouta can be arranged at a competitive additional fee. Transits from Tontouta are made using a purpose-built bike trailer and mini-van. This can comfortably carry up to 8 riders, bikes and luggage. Bike boxes and purpose-built bike bags can be stored with us on arrival in Noumea for reuse on the return journey. Bike boxes are not allowed to be stored at Tontouta airport, they are not sold at the airport, and they are difficult to obtain in Noumea. The cost of bike/e-bike hire is not included for the tour
What’s NOT included in the price?
The ride price does not include air fares, travel insurance, transit from Noumea to Tontouta Airport on return and additional food and drinks. Airfares need to be booked and paid for by each rider, with return economy air fares ex Sydney or Auckland are typically AUD$600-800.
See Resources & Links at the FAQs page for airline links.
The ride price is based on each rider bringing their own specific and unique riding equipment (eg. GPS device, clip-in riding shoes and pedals, favourite custom seat, etc).
